Maine Medical Center seeks approval for surgical center — 4 insights

Portland-based Maine Medical Center is seeking approval from the Scarborough (Maine) Planning Board to build a surgical center on Campus Drive, The Forecaster reports.

What you should know:

1. Maine Med wants to build a 108,000-square-foot surgical center and a large parking lot.

2. The center will house Main Med’s neurology, neurosurgery, spine, ENT and vascular surgery practices.

3. The surgical center will have an unspecified number of exam rooms, procedure rooms and physician offices.

4. If approved, Maine Med will begin construction in fall 2019 with a 2021 opening date.
