Live Oak Surgery Center opens in Texas — 4 insights

Dallas-based Children's Health opened Specialty Center 2, which includes the Live Oak Surgery Center, also in Plano.

Here's what you should know.

1. Specialty Center 2 also houses the Children's Health Andrews Institute for Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine and Sports Performance, an imaging center and physician clinics.

2. The surgery center has four operating rooms and an unique patient observation feature that allows physicians and family members to check in on patients without entering the procedure area.

3. The surgery center also has a postoperative recovery area.

4. Specialty Center 2's most striking feature is a 60-yard turf football field and running track, which is attached to an indoor training area for the Children's Health Andrews Institute.

Children's Health Northern Market Executive Vice President Jeremiah Radandt said, "We designed Specialty Center 2 for the families and physicians of North Texas — combining the region’s leading pediatric experts and community providers to make it easy for families to access the care they need in one convenient location. The facility we debuted today does that and more. Our goal is to become a community partner for the growing number of families living in or moving to North Texas by empowering them to become active drivers of their own health care."
