Hospital volunteer group makes last donation to $26M surgery center project — 3 insights

Greenfield, Mass.-based Baystate Franklin Medical Center’s fundraising arm donated the final $40,000 contribution to pay off the hospital’s $26 million surgery center project, local news affiliate 22 News reports.

1. The Baystate Franklin Auxiliary, the hospital’s fundraising arm, pledged $200,000 to the surgery center five years ago and raised the money through sales at the hospital’s gift shop. A team of volunteers runs the gift shop.

2. Baystate built the surgery center in 2016 and has been paying it off since.

3. The Auxiliary exists to raise funds for things that fall outside the hospital’s budget. It also funds scholarships for students pursuing careers in the medical field.
