Maryville, Ill.-based Anderson Healthcare has temporarily shuttered several outpatient radiology services due to a national shortage of radiologists and radiology technologists.

From Aug. 6 to Aug. 14, nonurgent outpatient imaging services were unavailable at Maryville Imaging, Goshen Imaging, Anderson Hospital Imaging Center and Community Hospital of Staunton, according to a notice posted Aug. 6.

The hospital cited delays of at least seven days in radiology report turnaround times. To protect patient safety and quality of care, it paused many outpatient radiology services for one week and is evaluating the situation daily.Clerical staff remain on-site at the affected locations to assist patients with administrative needs.

“This pause is about protecting quality and patient safety. Accurate, timely radiology reports are essential, and we want to ensure we’re giving every patient the attention they deserve,” the hospital said in the notice.
