HCA CEO Sam Hazen: ‘Once-in-a-lifetime opportunities’ for healthcare acquisitions in 2019, including ASCs

 
Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare CEO Sam Hazen said the current healthcare environment is presenting once-in-a-lifetime opportunities for the company to make sizeable acquisitions, according to the Nashville Business Journal.

The key details to know:

1. HCA’s future acquisitions may involve ASCs, physician groups and urgent care companies.

2. During a Jan. 29 fourth-quarter earnings call, Mr. Hazen said HCA’s increased expansion opportunities stem from smaller health systems’ need to join a larger organization.

3. Mr. Hazen said 65 percent of HCA’s markets increase the number of outpatient surgeries they performed in 2018.
