Florida Governor Cuts $9.7M in Funds for Shands

Florida Gov. Charlie Crist has vetoed nearly $9.7 million in funds for 630-bed Shands at the University of Florida in Gainesville, according to a report by the Gainesville Sun.

The state funding for the safety-net hospital has been in place for 30 years, and Gov. Christ did not veto similar funding for two other hospitals — Moffitt in Tampa and Jackson Memorial in Miami.
