Envision Physician Services acquires Georgia emergency medicine group: 4 things to know

Envision Healthcare’s physician services division acquired Lawrenceville, Ga.-based emergency medicine group practice Gwinnett Emergency Specialists.

Here are four things to know:

1. The practice’s more than 40 physicians and 30 advanced practice practitioners offer services to residents at Gwinnett Medical Center Lawrenceville and Gwinnett Medical Center Duluth (Ga.).

2. Founded in 1991, GES’ patient volume totals 150,000 visits.

3. Carlton Buchanan, MD, medical director of GES and president of the hospitals’ medical staffs, said joining Envision allows the group to prepare for new reimbursement models.

4. Through the deal, Envision Physicians Services now operates eight hospital-based emergency medicine departments in North Georgia.
