Emerged from wreckage: Joplin, Mo.’s Via Christi Surgery Center completes $20M project

Although it happened three years ago, the devastating tornado that tore through Joplin, Mo., in May 2011 continues to have a lasting impact on the community. However, many healthcare facilities are on the other side of the damage now, including Via Christi Surgery Center.

The surgery center completed a $20 million project earlier this month, according to an Insurance News Net report. Additionally, the Pinamonti Physical Therapy & Wellness Center completed a $5 million project.

Earlier this year, staff and the community gathered to dedicate the new 40,000-square-foot surgery center. The center includes five operating rooms, two endoscopy rooms and a minor procedure room, according to an Amway Healthline report.

The center also includes:

• A patient tracking system
• Private rooms for surgical patients
• Sterilization room
