East Alabama Medical Center building emergency facility with ASC — 4 insights

Opelika-based East Alabama Medical Center plans to open a freestanding emergency department with an ASC in Auburn, Ala., The Auburn Villager reports.

1. The ASC will have four operating and procedure rooms.

2. Construction will cost an estimated $3.6 million, according to Opelika-Auburn News

3. The facility is expected to open in late summer or early fall of 2019.

4. The hospital’s existing emergency department has a capacity of 36,000 annual patient visits but it currently handles 55,000, according to incoming CEO Laura Grill.
