CMS to pay for total knees in ASCs & more — 8 ASC industry notes

Here are eight updates on ASC companies and industry-relevant companies to note:

CMS included a site-neutral payment policy and added total knee arthroplasty to the ASC-payable list in its 2020 Medicare Hospital Outpatient Prospective Payment System and ASC Payment System Final Rule, which was released Nov. 1. Read more. 

Atlanta-based United Digestive partnered with Savannah, Ga.-based Center for Digestive & Liver Health. 

Dallas-based GI Alliance acquired Indianapolis Gastroenterology and Hepatology, its third acquisition in three weeks. 

Pierce Street Same Day Surgery was awarded $1.6 million in damages after a jury ruled that its CEO conspired with a competing physician group to develop a new surgery center.

Medical City Frisco (Texas) expects to wrap up construction on its nearby ASC by May 2020.

Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare reported revenues of nearly $12.7 billion in the third quarter of 2019, a year-over-year increase of about $11.5 billion. Read more. 

Deerfield, Ill.-based Surgical Care Affiliates recently celebrated the grand opening of a 22,700-square-foot surgery center.

Westchester, Ill.-based Regent Surgical Health inked a partnership with Universal Health Services, a 354-hospital chain with facilities across the U.S., to build and operate ASCs.
