Here’s what you should know:
1. System officials are seeking a certificate of need to build the pediatric outpatient and specialty medical center. Officials plan to house 50 treatment rooms and two ambulatory surgery operating rooms in the center.
2. When complete, the center will be adjacent to the University of Maryland Capital Regional Medical Center, also in Glenarden.
3. System officials believe the center will be operational by 2020.
4. Children’s National treated 24,000 patients in Prince George’s County in 2016. The system believes the outpatient center could offer patients another option for care in the area.
