It took almost a year, but the application for a new surgery center in Franklin Lakes, N.J., has received planning board approval, according to a Franklin Lanes/Oakland Suburban News report.

Hearings on the proposed ASC began in February. Tice Road Properties of Waldwick, N.J., proposed to raze a home to build a two-story ASC on the property and an adjacent vacant lot.

The project faced a number of obstacles since it was proposed, including challenges from neighbors, planning board members recusing themselves due to conflicts of interest, and questions on zoning and traffic.

Construction, which will require the demolition of the home, can now begin on the 15,400-square-foot surgery center.
