5 joint ventures shaping the ASC space

Here are five ASC-focused joint ventures so far in 2025, as reported by Becker’s:

1. An April 16 report by Nashville, Tenn.-based law firm Bass, Berry & Sims highlighted a recent joint venture between Cincinnati-based Bon Secours Mercy Health System and Raleigh, N.C.-based Compass Surgical Partners. The joint venture expanded its reach by developing 30 new ASCs in Kentucky, Ohio, South Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, New York and Florida.

2. U.S. Orthopaedic Partners and Mid State Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Center began construction on an ASC in Alexandria, La.

3. Compass Surgical Partners joined with the Orthopaedic Institute of North Texas and Lam Vascular & Associates to operate a new ASC in Frisco, Texas. 

4. Durham, N.C.-based Duke Health and Chapel Hill, N.C.-based UNC Health are collaborating on a $2 billion venture to build a 500-bed hospital, ASC, outpatient care center, medical office building and children’s behavioral health center. 

5. Real estate development company Hammes completed the Surgery Center of Lee’s Summit (Mo.) on behalf of Surgery Ventures, powered by HCA Healthcare, and 16 physician partners.
