Here are four physician practice closures Becker’s has reported on in the last 60 days:

1. Alpha Wellness and Alpha Medical Centre, a physician practice based in Alpharetta, Ga., was forced to close following a cyberattack. On Feb. 3, the practice detected unusual network activity and launched an internal investigation. Third-party cybersecurity experts confirmed the incident was a ransomware attack and determined that the data of 1,714 patients had been exposed.

2. Menocal Family Practice, an affiliate of Privia Health, permanently closed its Salisbury, Md., office on July 25, the practice announced in an Instagram post.

3. Providence, R.I.-based Anchor Medical Associates officially closed all three of its offices on June 30, leaving approximately 25,000 patients without a primary care provider. The closure, announced in April, was attributed to a worsening physician shortage and the group’s inability to recruit replacements for retiring physicians.

4. Nancy Williams-Wallace, MD, is closing her ophthalmology practice, Tampa Bay Eye Associates, located in Palm Harbor, Fla. Patients can request copies of their medical records to be sent directly to themselves or to another physician by contacting the practice via email.
