10 New ASCs Opened or Under Development by Hospitals and Health Systems

Here are 10 recently announced reports about surgery centers opening or under development by hospitals and health systems.

 

1. New Surgery Center Opened by Florida's Lee Memorial Health System - Lee Memorial Health System, based in Southwest Florida, has announced the opening of a new ASC in Fort Myers, Fla. The new Outpatient Surgery Center is a 20,000-square-foot facility featuring four ORs and two procedure rooms.

 

2. New York Surgery Center Included in New Plans for Buffalo Medical Complex - An outpatient surgery center developed by Buffalo, N.Y.-based not-for-profit Kaleida Health is part of plans for a new $80 million medical complex in Buffalo. The developers hope to break ground in March 2012.

 

3. New Surgery Center in Oklahoma City Opened by OU Medical Center - OU Medical Center has opened a new $18.1 million surgery center. OU Medical Center Surgery Center has five ORs, two procedure rooms and will perform cases in specialties including orthopedics, urology, general surgery, pain management, oral surgery and sports medicine.

 

4. New California Surgery Center Included in Hanford Medical Pavilion - An ASC is part of a new medical pavilion in Hanford, Calif., developed by Adventist Health. The Hanford Medical Pavilion, a 63,000-square-foot facility, includes the outpatient Kings River Surgical Center, along with radiology services and physician offices.

 

5. New York Hospital Set to Open Surgical Center in York - York (N.Y.) Hospital has announced completion of the development of a new surgical center. The new surgery center is an expansion and renovation of the hospital's existing surgery center.

 

6. New Ohio Physician/Hospital Joint Venture Surgery Center Set to Open in Medina - A new ASC developed by Akron, Ohio-based Summa Health System and physicians from the Medina, Ohio, area is scheduled to open in Medina County in December. The Summa Health Center at Lake Medina is a 100,000-square-foot facility that includes a three-suite ASC.

 

7. New Surgery Center Opens for Massachusetts's Berkshire Medical Center - Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, Mass., has opened a new, $20 million ASC. The Crane Center for Ambulatory Surgery will perform procedures predominantly in orthopedics. It will also perform ophthalmology, ENT, general surgery and eventually gynecology and plastics.

 

8. Colorado Hospital's New Surgery Center Faces No Objections, Will Proceed as Planned - A new ASC for Colorado's Vail Valley Medical Center will proceed as planned after there were no concerns expressed by residents during a meeting held about the project. The plans call for a 20,000-square-foot facility that will include four ORs and will cost $15-$20 million. Construction is expected to begin in the spring and open a year later.

 

9. New York Hospital Starts Construction on Surgery Center in Olean - Olean (N.Y.) General Hospital has begun construction on a new freestanding ASC on its campus. The 22,000-square-foot surgery center will include four ORs and three endoscopy suites and is estimated to cost $10.3 million. The ASC is expected to open in early 2012.

 

10. Surgery Center Part of New Hospital in Nebraska's Fillmore County - A surgery center is part of a new hospital under development in Fillmore County, Neb. The $20 million hospital, which held its groundbreaking this week, is expected to open in May 2012. In addition to the surgery center, the hospital will have 20 new beds, an emergency department and medical office building.
