Value vs. productivity: Which influences physician pay more?

Healthcare reform is well-underway and is clearly not going anywhere; however, nearly one-fourth of physicians state that their all their income is tied to productivity, according to the 2015 Physician Compensation Survey by Physicians Practice, which includes responses from approximately 1,426 physicians.

Here are 13 statistics on the percentage of physician pay tied to value and productivity.

Value:

•    None — 63.3 percent
•    1 to 5 percent — 11 percent
•    6 to 10 percent — 4.9 percent
•    11 to 25 percent — 5.6 percent
•    26 to 50 percent — 4.8 percent
•    More than 50 percent — 10.4 percent

Productivity:

•    None — 63.3 percent
•    Up to 10 percent — 9.1 percent
•    11 to 25 percent — 9.5 percent
•    26 to 50 percent — 6.5 percent
•    51 to 75 percent — 5.4 percent
•    More than 75 percent — 7.2 percent
•    All of it — 24.8 percent
