Medscape surveyed 10,011 physicians across more than 29 specialties about their income, work hours, job satisfaction and more from Oct. 7, 2022, to Jan. 17, 2023.
Here is what physicians said the most challenging part of their job is:
- So many rules and regulations: 21 percent
- Working long hours: 16 percent
- Dealing with difficult patients: 15 percent
- Dealing with Medicare and/or insurers and getting fair reimbursement: 13 percent
- Working with an EHR system: 13 percent
- Worrying about being sued: 7 percent
- Danger/risk associated with treating COVID-19 patients: 1 percent
- Other: 10 percent
- Nothing: 3 percent
