New York has 19,390 physician assistants, the most out of any state, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics

There are four states that have more than 10,000 physician assistants: New York, California, Florida and Texas

The agency released updated employment information for physician assistants to reflect 2024 information on April 2. 

In total, there are 155,540 physician assistants in the U.S., 9,800 more compared to 2023.

Here are the 10 states with most and least physician assistants:
