South Dakota vision center 1st in US to perform cataract surgery with Zepto — 4 insights

Sioux Falls, S.D.-based Vance Thompson Vision is the first U.S.-based center to offer Zepto for refractive laser-assisted cataract surgery.

Here’s what you should know:

1. Zepto creates precise capsulotomy through the use of low-energy pulses, which prevents patients from experiencing cautery or tissue burning.

2. Mynosys developed the Zepto system.

3. Refractive surgeon Vance Thompson, MD, is a clinical investigator for a U.S. clinical trial. He completed his first case using Zepto on July 24.

4. Dr. Thompson said in a release, “The Zepto device is an innovative system that will provide reliable, reproducible and automated incisions during cataract surgery. We are excited to be able to bring this option to patients and offer them continued options for visual freedom.”
