Baltimore-based MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center has its sights set on a new surgical facility, according to Morningside Maryland.

1. Last week, the Maryland Health Care Commission approved MedStar's plan for the $70 million surgical facility.
2. The surgical facility is undergoing construction and encompasses 75,000 square feet.
3. The facility will house 14 operating rooms and a waiting room.
