Roanoke County Eye Center Approved for 3rd Operating Room

The Roanoke (Va.) County Eye Center has received approval from the Virginia Department of Health to open a third outpatient operating room, according to a report from The Roanoke Times.

The new OR will accommodate growth at the center’s locations in Salem, Va., which were 18 percent over capacity and had a three-month waiting list for elective surgery in 2013, according to the report.

The department of health added a condition to their approval of the CON: that the center double the amount of charity care it had proposed to provide from 1.6 percent of its business to 3.8 percent of its business.

The room addition will cost about $786,000 and will open January. 2016.
