Ohio Outpatient Surgery Cases Increase 24.3% in 12 Years

Northeast Ohio’s Center for Health Affairs has released a report showing the total number of outpatient surgery cases has increased since 2012.

While volume fell 9,000 cases between 2010 and 2011, 2012 saw an increase of more than 19,000 cases, and 2013 added 3,000 more cases to the total number.

All told, case volumes for outpatient surgery in northeast Ohio grew 24.3 percent between 2001 and 2013.

The trend isn’t isolated to the region, according to a news release, and may also be observed on a larger scale in the United States.
