Here are five things to know:
1. Miami-based Jackson Health System suspects the employee, Evelina Reid, has compromised more than 24,000 patient records over the last five years.
2. Ms. Reid is a hospital unit secretary and has been working at the hospital since 2005.
3. Jackson Health System will notify those patients whose personal information may have been compromised by mail.
4. Only four days ago, the hospital announced it fired two employees for breaching New York Giants player Jason Pierre Paul’s private information. Last year, Mr. Paul had his right index finger amputated, and his patient chart was leaked to ESPN.
5. As of now, Ms. Reid has not been fired. It is unclear whether Jackson Health is waiting for the results of internal and police investigations to complete her termination.
