1. Florida: 11
2. California: 10*
3. Texas: 9
*Note: California often has more reported breaches, possibly due to a higher number of entities reporting, higher patient volume or more thorough reporting methods.
Protenus advises healthcare privacy offices to use technology to audit every attempt — malicious or not — to access patient data. “Full visibility into how their data is being accessed will help healthcare organizations prevent data breaches from wreaking havoc on their organization and the patients who trust them with their more sensitive information,” the report said.
