Idaho governor candidate Dr. Tommy Ahlquist discloses $5k+ assets, including Twin Ambulatory Surgical Center ownership: 5 things to know

In his race to the Idaho governor’s seat, Republican candidate Tommy Ahlquist, MD, is disclosing various business assets and investments, according to San Francisco Chronicle.

Here are five things to know:

1. Idaho does not require its governor candidates or governors to disclose personal financial information. However, Dr. Ahlquist said in a statement disclosing this information will “fill a gaping hole that has persisted in Idaho’s ethics laws for far too long.”

2. He is a stakeholder in Boise, Idaho-based  Twin Ambulatory Surgical Center. Dr. Ahlquist also holds ownership in Meridian Medical Plaza and in a Boise defibrillator company that he co-founded.

3. His salary is derived from Gardner Company — a Boise, Idaho-based development company. Dr. Ahlquist is the company’s COO.

4. Dr. Ahlquist’s campaign said he owns 25 businesses and has 27 investments with an overall net worth exceeding $5,000. San Francisco Chronicle reports the disclosed information does not delve into how much each asset is worth nor does it include potential liabilities.

5. Dr. Ahlquist earned his medical degree from Salt Lake City-based University of Utah.
