How the top earning state for physicians has changed over the last 9 years

Physicians working in Wisconsin are the highest earning on average, according to Medscape’s “2023 Physician Compensation” report, which surveys over 10,000 physicians across 29 specialties annually.

2015: North Dakota

2016: North Dakota

2017: North Dakota

2018: Indiana

2019: Oklahoma

2020: Kentucky

2021: Alabama

2022: Kentucky

2023: Wisconsin
