Holy Cross surgeon performs 1,000th robotic surgery

Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based Holy Cross Health general surgeon Michael Perez, MD, recently completed his 1,000th laparoscopic surgery using the Da Vinci Xi surgical system, South Florida Hospital News and Healthcare Report reported April 1. 

“This technology has been a gamechanger, and I am grateful to Holy Cross Health for providing me and my fellow physicians with state-of-the-art equipment such as the Da Vinci Xi surgical system so we can provide superior care to our patients,” he said in the report. 

Holy Cross acquired the Da Vinci XI Surgical System in 2017. In addition to Dr. Perez, more than 12 surgeons at Holy Cross in various specialties are licensed to use the surgical robot.
