Health Center South/Eye Center South plans expansion: 5 key notes

The Health Center South/Eye Center South in Dothan, Ala., is planning an expansion, according to a report from the Dothan Eagle.

Here are five key notes:

1. The Dothan Planning Commission approved a five-level, 187,500-square-foot mixed office building for the Health Center South/Eye Center South.

2. The new facility includes parking space on the first level and medical office building space on the other four levels.

3. Ophthalmologists Marnix Heersink, MD, and John Fortin, MD, opened Eye Center South in 1980 and the building has undergone five renovations since then, most recently a remodeling in 2008.

4. The current Eye Center South facility includes six fully equipped operating rooms and the ability to expand.

5. The practice includes 15 physicians focused on LASIK, glaucoma, retina, dermatology, plastic and cosmetic and hearing procedures.
