Easing patient fears: 4 things to know about Yellowstone Surgery Center’s Ramsey the ram

To make kids more comfortable before undergoing a procedure, Billings, Mt.-based Yellowstone Surgery Center has their mascot, Ramsey the ram, meet with kids prior to surgery, according to Billings-Gazette.

Here are four highlights:

1. Yellowstone had an older version of Ramsey and an informational book, but the center wanted a new mascot with a softer, more kid-friendly look.

2. Local artist Jason Jam designed, drew and constructed paintings of Ramsey, which hang on the center’s walls.

3. Following surgery, the center gives patients a Ramsey-themed grab bag.

4. Yellowstone Surgery Center has a pair of child-sized plush dolls of Ramsey.
