Dr. Mark Kallgren implants first Senza SCS in Portland: 3 quick facts

Portland, Ore.-based Northwest Ambulatory Surgery Center’s Mark A. Kallgren, MD, conducted the first commercial implantation of the Senza spinal cord stimulator in Portland.

Here are three quick facts:

1. Senza offers Nevro’s HF10 therapy, and demonstrated better results in a study comparing it to traditional SCS.

2. HF10 therapy is a high-frequency therapy at 10,000 Hz and is the only SCS therapy delivering pain relief without paresthesia.

3. “Having been involved with spinal cord stimulation for almost 25 years, I am very excited to see its evolution and impact on treating pain without drugs via a minimally invasive, reversible and non-destructive therapy,” said Dr. Kallgren, medical director of pain medicine of the Oregon Anesthesiology Group.
