Here are seven points:
1. The Partnership for Patients Program allows patients to find Direct network email accounts, once they enroll with a health information service provider accredited by DirectTrust.
2. The HISPs are able to securely exchange encrypted health information with all other HISPs on the Direct network.
3. DataMotion, MaxMD and iShare Medical are already involved with the Partnership for Patients Program.
4. DirectTrust expects four more HISPs to join the Partnership for Patients Program by the end of June.
5. In the first quarter of 2016, Direct transactions increased 350 percent to 20 million, compared to the first quarter of 2015.
6. In the first quarter of 2016, the number of organizations using Direct increased to 58,000. About 450,000 clinicians have Direct accounts and addresses.
7. DirectTrust emphasized the Partnership for Patients Program is not designed to replace patient portals, but rather serve as a complement.
