ALN Medical Management, Lincoln, Neb.- based medical billing provider, filed a notice of a data breach after discovering that an unauthorized party was able to access files stored on a third-party hosting service, according to an article published by law firm Console and Associates in JD Supra March 25.
The notice, filed March 21, was filed with the Attorney General of Massachusetts and details that the unauthorized party was able to access sensitive information at four physician practices, including Frederick, Md.-based National Spine and Pain, Lincoln, Neb.-based Inpatient Physician Associates, Newport Beach, Calif.-based Hoag Clinic, and Melville, N.Y.-based Allied Physicians Group.
The unauthorized party was able to access patient names, Social Security numbers and financial account information. ALN began sending out data breach notification letters to its patients after completing its investigation of the incident.
