Children’s of Alabama welcomes Dr. Tonia Crump — 3 things to know

Children’s of Alabama in Birmingham, Ala., promoted Tonia Crump to director of the hospital’s One Day Surgery department and Post Anesthesia Care Unit.

Here are three things to know:

1. Ms. Crump joined Children’s of Alabama in 1991 and most recently served as the PACU nurse clinician in the Surgical Services department, a post she had held since 2001.

2. Children’s of Alabama has provided specialized care for ill and injured children since 1911 and has been ranked among the best pediatric medical care centers in the nation by U.S. News and World Report. It is the third largest pediatric medical facility in the United States.

3. Children’s One Day Surgery department, also known as same-day or outpatient surgery, involves surgical procedures that require two hours or less and a short recovery time in the PACU, or Recovery Room.
