CASA recognized these centers for their engagement in professional organizations; advocacy of the ASC industry; quality metrics transparency and reporting; ongoing patient and staff education; and community involvement.
Here are the five ASCs:
1. Grass Valley (Calif.) Surgery Center: The ASC includes two ORs and one treatment room where physicians see patients for ENT, general surgery, gynecology, orthopedic surgery, pain management, podiatry and urology.
2. PAMF Mountain View SurgiCenter: The ASC has performed more than 15,000 outpatient procedures annually since 2009 and includes hernia repair, knee arthroscopy, tonsillectomy and physiatry procedures.
3. Surgecenter of Palo Alto (Calif.): This ASC has four large operating rooms and three dedicated GI procedure rooms where surgeons perform ophthalmology, ENT, general surgery and orthopedic procedures.
4. The Surgery Center of Long Beach: This AAAHC-accredited center includes orthopedics, ophthalmology, retina surgery, pain management, spine surgery, plastic surgery, gynecology and podiatry.
5. West Wilshire Medical Surgical Center (Los Angeles): This surgery center is located within Pacific Eye and Ear Specialists and includes ENT, neuro-ophthalmology, orbital surgery and cosmetic surgery.
