Here are four things to know:

1. The expansion includes the building of two new operating rooms. One will be hybrid, and the other will be multipurpose.

2. According to President and CEO of Blessing Health System, Maureen Kahn, this expansion is about advancing surgical technology to complement minimally invasive surgery, as well as providing better benefits to patients and surgeons.

3. The hybrid operating room will combine the features of a traditional surgical room with advanced imaging capabilities needed to perform the latest minimally invasive surgical procedures, such as catheter-based heart valve repair and stent replacement to repair aneurysms and treat peripherally blocked arteries in the legs.

4. The multipurpose operating room will be larger than Blessing’s existing operating rooms and will better meet the needs of trauma and orthopedic cases that require the use of large surgical equipment.
