Much of the hospital’s progress is linked to a surgery center revamp project, according to a Mass Live report. Baystate Franklin Medical Center broke ground on the $26 million project to expand and modernize its surgery center in January.

The 55,000-square-foot expansion project is expected to reach completion in fall 2016, according the report.

This year, the medical center is operating at an 8 percent profit margin.
