CMS extended its exception for meeting Medicare quality reporting requirements to ASCs in areas affected by Hurricane Irma. Previously, the agency had granted an exception for ASCs affected by Hurricane Harvey.

ASCs affected by Hurricane Irma in all 67 FEMA-designated Florida counties will not need to submit an extraordinary circumstances exemption request to receive exception for quality reporting. The exemption covers all quality reporting for the 2017 calendar year that would have been submitted through the QualityNet Secure Portal and National Healthcare Safety Network web-based measure collection tool.

The exemption doesn’t apply to claims-based measures that utilize quality data codes for calculation purposes, according to the report.

ASCs outside of FEMA-designated counties may request an exception to reporting requirements under the extraordinary circumstances exemption.
