The poll received answers from 1,202 people in February.

Here are six things to know:

1. The poll found more Americans favored liberal changes to the healthcare system.

2. Of those polled, 36 percent said policymakers should continue with the Affordable Care Act, but make it better by lowering costs and increasing access. Hillary Clinton’s platform supports this path.

3. Twenty-four percent of those polled want universal health coverage via one government plan. Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders backs a single-payer option.

4. Of the polled Democrats, 54 percent support Hilary Clinton’s plan, while 33 percent support Sen. Bernie Sander’s plan.

5. Although about 50 percent of respondents reported supporting a single-payer system, 20 percent retracted when they discovered taxes would increase and the government would be in charge of healthcare.

6. Of those polled, 16 percent want the next president to repeal the ACA, and not institute a new healthcare law. Thirteen percent back repealing the ACA and replacing it with a Republican version.
