Physicians Foundation commissioned the survey which polled more than 17,000 physicians throughout the United States.

Here are four survey findings:

1. Eighty percent of physicians reported being overextended or at capacity, leaving no time to see additional patients.

2. The survey found 54 percent of physicians rated their morale as somewhat or very negative.

3. Of those polled, 49 percent reported they are either often or always feeling burnt out.

4. Nearly half (48 percent) reported they may reduce their hours, take a non-clinical job, retiring, turn to concierge medicine or take other steps to limit patient access.
