Asheville, N.C.-based Mission Health purchased the property of Asheville Surgery Center in 2016 from physician owners and recently sold the property to investors. Mission sold the property to Asheville 5 Medical Properties for $14.7 million, but will remain tenants of the property.
Medical University of South Carolina opening new practice in mall with ASC
Charleston-based Medical University of South Carolina is opening a new location in a shopping mall, which will include an ASC. The new 126,000-square-foot facility spans multiple floors and will offer surgical procedures as well as radiology and therapy. One floor will be dedicated to physician offices and exam rooms.
Anesthesia-related liability claim values lower for ASCs than hospitals
The most common causes of anesthesia-related liability claims in ASCs are injection of anesthesia into a peripheral nerve and intubation, according to an analysis in the Journal of Patient Safety. The average closed claim value is significantly lower for ASCs than for hospital operating rooms.
