6 primary reasons nurses leave the field

An RNnetowrk survey polled nurses on their reasons for leaving the profession as almost 50 percent of those surveyed reported considering leaving nursing at one point.

Here are the six reasons listed:

1. Feel overworked: 27 percent

2. Do not enjoy job: 16 percent

3. Too much paperwork/EHRs: 15 percent

4. Lack of patient time: 12 percent

5. Want something new: 11 percent

6. Ready to retire: 4 percent
