32 cities where ASC specialists earn more than $400K

Physicians who specialize in anesthesiology, cardiology, gastroenterology and orthopedic surgery have the opportunity to earn more than $400,000 in 32 metropolitan areas of the U.S.

For reference, the average salary of all anesthesiologists in the U.S. is $339,470 per year, and it’s $423,250 for cardiologists, $312,120 for ophthalmologists and $378,250 for orthopedic surgeons.

Below are the 32 cities where physicians of each specialty earn a yearly average salary higher than $400,000, using data from the most recent Bureau of Labor Statistics employment survey, which was published April 3 and uses data from 2023, the latest available.
