Hopkins, Minn.-based UnitedHealthcare named Christopher Abbott its next CEO for Medicare and Retirement for Texas and Oklahoma, DMagazine reports.

Here’s what you should know.

1. Mr. Abbott will replace Holly Steinbrecher, who served in the role since 2002.

2. He will oversee Medicare plans for more than 900,000 seniors.

3. Mr. Abbott most recently served in the same role for UnitedHealthcare, overseeing its Wisconsin and Michigan facing plans.

4. He also has extensive practice management experience, serving as the director for a large ophthalmology practice in southeastern Wisconsin.
