Here are four things to know:
1. The president said legislators will submit “a great healthcare plan that’s going to take the place of the disaster known as ObamaCare” during a campaign rally in Melbourne, Fla., on Feb. 18, 2017.
2. President Trump promised the plan would cost consumers less and will be “much better healthcare.”
3. Earlier this week, GOP leaders discussed part of their ACA replacement plan with party members in Washington, D.C. The plan would rely on tax credits to pay for individual insurance purchases and lower federal payments to the 31 states that opted to expand Medicaid. However, Republicans wrote in a document outlining their plan that they would not “pull the rug out from anyone who received care under states’ Medicaid expansions.”
4. House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) told reporters on Feb. 7, 2017, that although officials will submit a plan this year; it will take officials longer to put that plan into action.
