Here are four best practices for overcoming medical coding and billing challenges he shared with Becker’s ASC Review:
1. Know the requirements of each insurance plan you deal with.
2. Ensure that the documentation/data by each is provided to them at the first presentation of bills.
3. Use electronic submission wherever possible. Where paper is the only option, make sure it is accurate and complete.
4. Follow up on unpaid bills. Always.
