Survey: EHRs Increased Speech Recognition Software Demand

Electronic health records have boosted the market for speech recognition software, according to KLAS research group.

The group surveyed speech application popularity in three categories — speech electronic medical record, front-end speech imaging and back-end speech. They identified Nuance Dragon Medical, Dolbey and M*Modal as the most prevalent providers of such technology. The companies are also leaders in natural language processing

Though speech recognition technology is improving, it can still be a challenge for users, who need to properly train the applications to recognize users’ voices.
