Some Massachusetts residents opt out of healthcare due to high costs

About one in six Massachusetts residents did not purchase health insurance in 2015 due to high costs, based on a Center for Health Information and Analysis survey, according to HealthLeaders Media. These respondents indicated they forwent purchasing insurance, even though they needed it.

One-third of respondents reported their families attempted to remain healthier in 2015, so they wouldn’t need healthcare. These tactics includes anything from quitting smoking to enhancing diets.

The Center for Health Information and Analysis’ director concluded health insurance costs are affecting people’s behavior.
