The report found 61 percent of physicians surveyed will seek employment within larger practices or health systems rather than opening a private practice, with 87 percent saying the high cost of doing business is keeping them from operating independently.
Others cited the prevalence of managed care as a growing challenge.
Physicians in private practice have dropped from 57 percent in 2000 to 39 percent in 2012. Accenture predicts an additional 3 percent drop by the end of 2013.
