Ohio to require payers to frequently update provider directories

Ohio’s state Department of Insurance will implement a rule in January 2016 requiring payers to update their current list of healthcare providers, according to HealthLeaders Media.

Come January, providers must update this list every three months. If a physician leaves the network, the payer must remove the provider from the director within 15 business days and alert any patients who have used that physician’s services in the past year.
