The national average cost of a semi-private room in a nursing home in 2012 rose 3.7 percent, from $214 per day to $222. Private room rates rose 3.8 percent, from $239 to $248.
The national average assisted living base rates rose by 2.1 percent, with Arkansas having the lowest monthly rate and Washington, D.C., the highest. Average rates for adult day services remained unchanged from 2011, as well as the average hourly rates for home health aides.
